Sunday

Edinburgh, Late Summer.

Interesting staircases, my weird family, the end of the Edinburgh fringe (including a tam o' shanter kebab), and one last fine summer's day before we went home.

To Autumn

Windows movie maker hates me, so this will have to do for now.

Saturday

The Pyrenees.

It's been a long time since I posted anything, but I thought I'd restart with something spectacular.
Looking up, at a campsite near Bordeaux. The resident pig at a campsite in Gedre. Her name is Zola, I'd like to think it's after the French author, but I couldn't say for sure. We went on a day walk to the cascade de Gavarnie (the longest single drop waterfall in Europe). I remember thinking that this is the most beautiful place I've ever been in my life. On the expedition, after walking all day in 35 degree heat, it was tempting to jump into the crystal clear streams - only they run straight off the glaciers, so are a bit more than pleasantly chilly. The Lac de la Bernatoire - completely isolated, full of trout. Sunset on the Spanish side. And breakfast, on the edge of a ravine. Almost at the end of the expedition, the scenery was still breathtaking.
Afterwards - the house that I'm going to live in one day (if all goes to plan). When we walked past later on, you could see the lit end of a cigarette glowing from the balcony in the semi darkness, held by a wild haired youth. The carousel at Cauterets, the mountain behind it shrouded in mist.
