Thursday

Grab a calculator and fix yourself

Some science to balance out all that god. Amazing.

More Books About God

The religion section is where the really weird beautiful books end up.

Oxfam, Merchant City

C'était peut-être hier

Pretty sure this entire day was a mirage, some kind of heat-induced hallucination. For some reason I was expecting Largs to be like Skegness. It isn't.

Wednesday

Oxfam

For what must be a few months now I've been spending my Sunday afternoons volunteering at the Oxfam Bookshop in Merchant City, Glasgow. We're constantly coming across so many beautiful, interesting and often downright bizarre books that I thought it was time to start sharing. This is just a tiny little taster.
In the meantime, like, head down and see for yourself or something.

Killing Time

We finished for the summer last week, pretty much. Should be applying for jobs or tidying my room or doing the washing up. Bought reduced melon and Oh Comely instead. These are strange day-light filled days. Keep getting high on vitamin D and then sleeping it all off again.

CAKE.

Making cake for Katie's birthday at when we got in at 4am wasn't such a bad idea, though there's probably a fair bit of eggshell in there. Sat on the steps outside to watch the sky go from dark blue to pale grey while it baked. Used a whole tube of hundreds and thousands to decorate it. Wisdomness is an in-joke of forgotten origin, mountains just because. It tasted better than you might expect. I've out-wholesome-d myself today.

Is this The People's Palace?

We only went in to use the loo.
It was far too hot (Glasgow's gone all tropical on us) and I'd had far too little sleep to take proper pictures, but I was struck by the reds and greys in a place you'd expect to be all green.

Thursday

Pipe Factory

Went down to the Pipe Factory in the East End for one of their Glasgow International events, Alexander Storey Gordon's Sleeping Cinema Space. The perfect way to spend an afternoon. Couldn't get over the red-brick beauty of the building, hardly took any photos because my eyes were doing a better job.
Hopefully there'll be more to come.

Odds and Ends

It's been a funny kind of week.
